*** Thursday 8th March 2018 ***

Internationally renowned graffiti artist Gustavo Nénão will be making his London debut at a Travel in Style charity catwalk hosted by Not Just Yoga on Thursday 22nd March in support of Fraternity Without Borders UK (FWB) – a not for profit organisation caring for the world’s poorest regions.

Gustavo Nénão started graffiti at only 12 years of age. He began spraying works on the streets of Brazil in 1994. Having graduated in advertising, his professional career took off in 2003 when he adopted a mix of Graffiti styles based on fine modern art and realism.

Nénão has completed many art projects linked to social causes for leading brands, festivals, fundraising events, entrepreneurs, and celebrities throughout South America, Europe and the United States. He was the only Brazilian to join a select group of artists of different nationalities to display pieces for the “Taking Back the Streets” exhibition in New York at the invitation of the former first lady, Michelle Obama, in 2015.

The Travel in Style catwalk is part of a series of charity fashion shows presented by Susan Yu, founder of Not Just Yoga – a lifestyle and wellness platform that facilitates networking and collaborative partnerships to support emerging designers, individuals and brands in the arts and fashion industry.

The upcoming show aptly titled Travel in Style: Nénão, will showcase designers inspired by Brazil in celebration of Nénão’s work and his London visit to help raise funds for Fraternity Without Borders. Beyond the runway, guests will have a rare opportunity to see the artist in action, performing live graffiti on canvas. The piece will be auctioned after the event on Instagram @notjustyogalondon.

Gustavo Nénão comments: “Partnering with Not Just Yoga to launch new fashion designers in London alongside my graffiti art, while raising funds for Fraternity Without Borders, is incredibly rewarding and motivating for me. I am looking forward to seeing the diverse talent – Brazil inspired creativity – all come together on one night, and hope we can raise significant donations to help reduce poverty in Africa.”

Gilson Guimaraes, Trustee at Fraternity without Borders UK (FWB) says: “We have been collaborating with Nénão since last year, and are very grateful and honored to have him share his talent at this fundraising event in support of our charity. His inspirational art has helped raise awareness of the extreme poverty in Mozambique and highlights issues many vulnerable people face every day. Thousands of children are losing their fundamental rights to be free from hunger, have access to clean water, and basic education – we seek to minimise the negative impact through our work.”

Susan Yu, Founder of Not Just Yoga adds: “Thanks to Nénão, we are delighted to host our second Travel in Style evening for fashion designers to showcase their latest creations and help raise money for a charity we feel is making a huge difference to people’s lives.

“There is limited funding to support the arts and fashion industry, and with current emphasis on lifestyle, wellness and mental health, we now need them more than ever.  Not Just Yoga offers a wealth of wellbeing – our charity fashion shows are run by all the brands involved, donating their time and services. Everyone is very supportive of each other’s work and it’s great to see so many designers, artists, and other creatives come together under one roof.”

About Fraternity Without Border UK

Fraternity Without Borders is a charity registered in the UK (no. 1173707) caring for one of the poorest regions of the world: Mozambique.

The charity’s main target is to assist orphans and vulnerable children, many of them with HIV. Since 2009, we have been providing food, education, cultural activities and basic healthcare to thousands of vulnerable children. We have been working to set up Shelter Centers in places where hunger, extreme poverty and vulnerability make new innocent victims every single day.

In Mozambique, the number of orphans due to AIDS continues to rise. In the absence of their parents, children take on the responsibility to care for their younger siblings. Because of the difficulties of survival, thousands lose the essential rights of any child, such as education, decent food, entertainment, healthcare and others.

Our work began in Africa, and today we have 26 Shelter Centers which can take in about 9,000 children. The support for these boys and girls, as well as for the elderly in the villages, happens through the sponsorship by volunteers in Brazil, UK, USA and in different places worldwide.
